The White defeated the Orange 30-10 in front of 60,000 fans Saturday afternoon in Death Valley in the annual Clemson Orange & White Game. And the Tigers showcased their passing game. The two sides combined for 72 passes, completing 39, for 486 yards. Sophomore quarterback Trevor Lawrence, whose passing skills are well chronicled, actually got the most work. He was 19-34 for 232 yards and a touchdown. He also threw a interception at the 7 yard line late in the game.
Lawrences’ backup, Chase Brice, was 10-19 for 165 yards and a touchdown. True freshman Taisun Phommachanh also inpressed completing 8 of 14 passes for 85 yards.
The receivers were led by a pair of true freshman. Joseph Ngata had 5 catches for 127 yards, including one catch of 70 yards, and Frank Ladson Jr. had 5 catches for 102 yards. Graybeards Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross had 5 and 4 receptions respectively.
The Tigers will soon begin their summer workouts leading up to the start of camp in August and their season opener against Georgia Tech on Thursday night, August 29th, in Death Valley on the new ACC Network.
