Clemson won for just the second time this season on the road in the ACC with a 62-48 victory at Pitt Wednesday night. With their second straight win, the Tigers move to 17-11 overall and 7-8 in the ACC with a date with North Carolina coming up Saturday at Littlejohn Coliseum. It’s Clemson’s sixth straight win over the Panthers.
Clemson never trailed and built a 22 point first half lead on the strength of some hot shooting, 56% from the floor and eight three-pointers.
The Tigers hit their first five three-pointers and led 18-5. It was a double-digit lead the rest of the way for the Tigers, peaking at 26 points, as Pitt could get no closer than 10 points.
As good as Clemson was on offense in the first half, the Tigers’s defensive effort was special throughout. The Panthers made just 12 shots on the night and were held to 27% shooting.
Marcquise Reed led the Tigers with 14 points. He also grabbed seven rebounds. Elijah Thomas added 12 points and eight boards.
