Second year USC baseball coach Mark Kingston got his first taste of the Clemson rivalry in 2018. It started well with a 3-2 win at Founders Park, the winning run scoring in the bottom of the ninth. But it was down hill from there for the Gamecocks, a 5-1 loss at Fluor Field in Greenville and an 8-7 loss at Doug Kingsmore Stadium at Clemson with the Tigers scoring the winning run off Carmen Mlodzinski in the bottom of the ninth. Mlodzinski will start for the Gamecocks Friday night at Doug Kingsmore.
Kingston said second baseman Noah Campbell is 100 percent healthy but catcher/first baseman Chris Cullen will be a game-time decision. If he’s able to play, Cullen most likely will play first base.
Thursday afternoon Kingston met with the media to preview what is known across the country as the best weekend rivalry series in college baseball.
