South Carolina wide receiver Bryan Edwards was the last player with a looming decision about his future, but announced Tuesday he will play for the Gamecocks during his senior year and forego the NFL Draft.
Edwards made the announcement on Twitter, using the Leonardo DiCaprio movie clip from “The Wolf of Wall Street”, where DiCaprio exclaims “I’m not leaving, I’m not leaving, I’m not (expletive) leaving.”
The rising senior from Conway will be the number-one receiving target for USC going into 2019, after catching 55 passes for 846 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns.
A full season of Deebo Samuel in the South Carolina offense led to his drop in passes caught from his sophomore season, and with Samuel headed to the NFL, he now has the opportunity to prove he can lead a potentially revamped unit.
Edwards’ announcement is the third of its kind to go positive for the Gamecocks, as OL Donell Stanley and QB Jake Bentley have also professed their intentions to fulfill their final years of eligibility.
South Carolina won’t return to practice until late February or March, but has already set the Spring Game date for April 6th.
