Coach Robert Weiner of Plant High in Tampa, who is in close consultation with the family, said his OL Will Putnam remains undecided with Clemson, FSU and Auburn the finalists. Wednesday night Putnam tweeted a thank you to all who had been following him during the recruiting process, perhaps an indication things are moving towards closure. Weiner feels his decision now could come in next 24-48 hours. Clemson was in Tuesday, Auburn was in today and Florida State will be in Thursday.
OL/DE Cooper Dawson of Hanahan said Tuesday he probably won’t take and official visit his weekend. He plans to stay home and think about his decision, said he’s close on making one. He plans to announce on the 19th. Tuesday Dawson was offered by UCLA.
CB Chris Steele of Bellflower, CA named a top five Tuesday to 247Sports of USC, Florida, Oklahoma, Oregon and Southern Cal. The Gamecocks and Gators are perceived by some recruiting followers as the favorites though he’s not publicly stated that. Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley and assistants were in on Tuesday night and Florida assistants are due back in Wednesday. USC coaches visited with him Sunday. He will sign next week but won’t announce until the US Army All American Game January 5th.
USC coach Will Muschamp and three assistants visited Tuesday with committed receiver Keveon Mullins of Memphis. While in that city, Muschamp also was expected to visit RB Eric Gray who visited last weekend. He will visit Tennessee this weekend.
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney and some assistants Tuesday checked in on 2020 QB DJ Uiagalelei of Bellflower, CA. Swinney and company also saw their committed WR Joe Ngata.
WR David Brown of Cheraw and Dean JC, MA committed to Coastal Carolina.
ATH DJ Chisolm of Berkeley was offered by Georgia State.
