The South Carolina Gamecocks defeated Coastal Carolina, 85-79, in a game where USC played at a pace more frenetic than they’re used to.
The Chanticleers were content to try and run-and-gun the Gamecocks, but USC sustained a good shooting output, making 43 percent of its field goals including 10 three-pointers, one off their season high.
AJ Lawson led South Carolina with 25 points and Hassani Gravett added 23, as both players made up the majority of the scoring in the second half.

USC held off CCU in a barn-burner for the second consecutive year, as the Chanticleers had the chance of an upset last season but missed a buzzer-beating bucket attempt by former USC guard Jaylen Shaw.

South Carolina (4-3) begins a two-game road trip with a Wednesday contest at Wyoming, followed by a visit to Ann Arbour to see defending National Runner-up Michigan on next Saturday.
