The Clemson Tigers made a valiant comeback attempt from as many as 13 points behind, but failed to finish against the Creighton Blue Jays, losing 87-82 in the Championship Game of the Cayman Islands Classic.
Marcquise Reed led the Tigers with 27 points, surpassing the 1,000-point mark in his Clemson career in the contest. Shelton Mitchell added 13 points and David Skara poured in 8 points with 11 rebounds.
Clemson controlled most of the statistical categories, but failed to get the outside-shot going as Creighton’s ten made three-pointers doubled the Tigers’ output, marking the difference in the ballgame.
The Tigers (5-1) return stateside to compete in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in their next contest against Nebraska, Monday night, at Littlejohn Coliseum.
