2020 QB DJ Uiagalelei of Bellflower, CA is coming back to Clemson Saturday night for the Palmetto Bowl. Uiagalelei is the top ranked player in the 2020 class and will be visiting Clemson for a second time. He visited last summer and was scheduled to return in November but missed a red-eye flight by just minutes. He plans to make his flight this time following his playoff game.
“We play this Friday night against Mater Dei for the Division 1 title. If we win that one, the championship game isn’t until Dec. 15th so that gives him enough time to recover,” said Uiagalelei’s coach Terry Bullock. “And he’s never been to Clemson for a game, so we really wanted to make sure that happens. We are all looking forward to it. We will catch a flight after the game is over and catch a red-eye to Atlanta. We hope to spend all day Saturday in Clemson and see the game that night.”
Uiagalelei’s dad also will be on the visit and Bullock said that’s a key point to the recruiting process for him.
“Big Dave has never been to Clemson, and I know that he wants to show his dad why Clemson is so special and why he loves it,” the coach said. “It will be good to spend time with the coaches and let him everything and everybody. That is one of the other reasons we really wanted to make this happen.”
Uiagalelei visited Auburn two weeks ago and those Tigers are at the top of the list along with Clemson and Oregon, but Uiagalelei is also hearing from Alabama and Washington.
According to stats from MaxPreps, this season Uiagalelei has thrown for 3251 yards and 47 touchdowns with just 5 interceptions.
