CB Jaydon Hill of Madison, AL took his official visit to USC over the weekend and said the visit went very well. He got the VIP treatment from Will Muschamp and Travaris Robinson. Hill has been committed to Florida since September and Sunday afternoon tweeted that he is “definitely still a Gator.” But Sunday night he left the door open for the Gamecocks.
“I just liked the whole visit,” Hill said of his weekend with the Gamecocks. “We talked a lot. We spent a bunch of time together. I talked to T-Rob and Muschamp a lot the whole weekend. I’m a priority for them and I can come, get developed and play as a true freshman.”
What’s particularly appealing to Hill about the Gamecock situation is Muschamp’s and Robinson’s histories of developing defensive backs at, of all places, Florida.
“T-Rob and Muschamp, knowing the guys they produced in the past at Florida, that’s big, knowing what T-Rob and Muschamp can do with DBs at my position,” he said. “They are definitely on the rise.”
Hill took his official visit to Florida in October for the LSU game and he said there are no more visits to be taken. He will have home visits next month with coaches from both staffs. The question for USC now is, can Muschamp and Robinson say enough to turn him from the Gators before he signs in December?
“It’s something to think about for sure,” Hill said. “I wouldn’t just say I’m all the way in. It could happen. I wouldn’t say it couldn’t happen. Really just keep doing what they are doing. They’ve been doing a great job of recruiting me.”
Hill suffered a torn ACL in his fourth game of the season going up to defend a pass and coming down wrong on his leg. He said he’s ahead of schedule on his rehab and could begin running in another week or so. As a junior he had 5 interceptions and broke up 26 passes.
