James took his official to Clemson this weekend, attending the Tigers’ football game against Georgia Southern. His other official visit was to Tennessee during the weekend of September 8th.
The senior at Porter Gaud had taken Michigan State, his father’s alma mater, off his final list which contained Clemson, Tennessee and Duke. His cancellation of the Duke visit could mean he’s eliminated the Blue Devils.
One positive sign for Clemson, in addition to them earning what became his final visit, is this comment from Porter Gaud Head Coach John Pearson, who said, “He doesn’t necessarily want to be like right next to home, but I think that far [at Michigan State], he didn’t want his parents to be straining to see him play. I think that kind of started to hit him hard.”
In advance of his official visit, Pearson told SportsTalkSC, “[Clemson has been] able to forge a good enough relationship,” Pearson said. “It was a process. Clemson was in there and did a great job and I think it has intrigued Josiah to the point that he’s going to make an official visit.”
