It’s just the SEC opener for USC but Saturday’s game against third ranked Georgia feels like a lot more than that. The coaches and players can down play it but inside their locker room the Gamecocks know a win over the Bulldogs will catapult them into the national scene and give them a leg up in the SEC East race.
Historically, Georgia has dominated this series with 50 wins in 70 games. But things have tightened up this decade with the Gamecocks going 4-4, and that includes the current three game winning streak by the Bulldogs.
But this will be the best USC team Georgia has faced since the 2014 season, and the Gamecocks believe their overall improvement along with their home field advantage could be enough to pull off the upset.
