When Clemson really wants to impress a prospect in recruiting, University President Jim Clements gets into the act. Such was the case over the weekend with 6-7 Christian Brown. He made his official visit with the Tigers and not only took in the football game, he got the chance to visit with Clements at his home.
“The energy of the game and fans Saturday was intense,” Brown said after returning to his Columbia home Monday. “Got a chance to meet several key members of the University staff, like the President, Clements.”
Brown also got a lot of face time with Clemson head coach Brad Brownell and assistant Steve Smith, his lead recruiter. The message from them is join in as they continue to elevate the program.
“How I would be an immediate impact player and have the opportunity to represent the USA in the 2019 USA World University Games,” Brown said. “How much I could impact other players from South Carolina to play in-state. Clemson is my favorite in-state school. Looking forward to being on campus more during basketball season and workouts.”
Brown has also taken an official visit to UNLV and he has had Georgia, LSU on his short list. He does not have any other visits scheduled at this point.
“Going to put in work now that my turf toe has healed and open up my recruitment before making a final list,” he said.
Brown played last season at Lower Richland High School but will be relocating to a new school for his senior season. He said he’s in the final stages of confirming those plans.
