Clemson basketball coach Brad Brownell had an excellent Wednesday. He landed a commitment from highly regarded 6-3 guard Chase Hunter of Atlanta, and he saw a key player from last season, 6-8 David Skara, announce that he plans to return for another season.
Skara announced in April his intentions to turn pro with an eye on going overseas. The native of Croatia was not picked in the NBA Draft. But he did not retain an agent and that kept alive his option to return to school for a final season as a grad student.
Skara came to Clemson two seasons ago as a transfer from Valparaiso. He redshirted his first season then last season was a defensive catalyst for the Tigers. He averaged only 3 points per game.
Skara’s return gives Brownell a full roster of 13 scholarship players. He joins Marquise Reed, Shelton Mitchell and Eli Thomas as seniors/grad students in their final season of eligibility.
