The South Carolina Gamecocks scrimmaged for the final time in Fall Camp on Saturday, as they begin to turn the page toward their preparation for opening week.
The Gamecocks were originally scheduled to practice inside Williams-Brice Stadium, but the Beyonce/Jay-Z concert preparations forced them across the street to the practice fields.
Head Coach Will Muschamp updated South Carolina’s injuries:
- OL Wyatt Campbell out for one month (knee)
- RB Lavonte Valentine out for two weeks (knee)
- S Tavyn Jackson has not practiced in about 10 days (heat issues)
This week the Gamecocks were able to get S JT Ibe and LB Rosendo Louis back on the field from their injuries, and outside of the season-ending knee injuries to DL Tyreek Johnson and RB & special teams contributor Caleb Kinlaw, South Carolina hasn’t had an injury to a player perceived as a major contributor.
South Carolina ran about 170 snaps at the King Family Outdoor Practice fields, with the first-team offense moving the ball well according to Muschamp. The Head Coach added that the defense continues to show a lack of consistency relating to effort, “not necessarily ability”.
Muschamp also announced Saturday he has placed second-team center Chandler Farrell of Summerville on scholarship.
