Clemson is on the prowl for defensive tackles and one the Tigers offered recently, Jacob Bandes of Antioch, CA will announce his commitment prior to his game Friday night. Bandes has never visited Clemson but the Tigers are still in the mix as he mulls over his decision.
“Me and coach Todd Bates have been in a lot of contact lately about their desperate need at defensive tackle,” Bandes said. “Like four or five defensive tackles are declaring for the draft this year.”
Bandes said one of the points of the conversations has been about the distance from his home to Clemson.
“I don’t have a problem with distance,” he said.
Bandes has Clemson, Colorado, Oregon, Illinois, Washington, Florida and Purdue on his final list. He said most of his conversations have been with Clemson, Washington, Oregon, Cal and Illinois.
He has taken an official visit to Colorado and has visits scheduled with Illinois and Oregon. He said it will be up to the school he chooses as to whether or not he will take other official visits.
Bandes is one of two Clemson targets set to announce this week. DE Colby Wooden of Lawrenceville, GA will announce Thursday for either Clemson or Auburn. And Monday safety target Jalyn Phillips, also of Lawrenceville, will announce for Clemson, Alabama or Oklahoma.
