USC Upstate began its tenure in the Big South Conference on Sunday, with an Athletic Director still decorating his new office.
First-Time Director of Athletics Daniel Feig, hired to be the new head of the Spartans Athletic Department says sheparding USC Upstate into this new conference should ease some of the challenges the school in Spartanburg has faced over the years.
After a period of relative anonymity in the Atlantic Sun, USC Upstate joins a conference with three other schools in the state (Charleston Southern, Presbyterian & Winthrop) and regional ties to North Carolina and Virginia.
Feig comes to Spartanburg from stints as an athletic assistant at Southern Miss, Alabama and Arkansas State.
