WR Jacoby Pinckney of Dorman announced a commitment to Virginia Tech Tuesday afternoon. He chose the Hokies over Michigan, Alabama and Georgia. Both USC and Clemson offered him early in the process but neither recruited him moving forward. Last season Pinckney had 65 catches for 1075 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Clemson target LB Spencer Lytle will announce his college decision on August 4th. Lytle said Clemson is “100%” on his short list. Others he has been considering are Wisconsin, Texas, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Cal and TCU, but he said Clemson and Wisconsin stand out the most with him right now.
USC target DB Chris Steele reportedly committed to Southern Cal according to the Rivals site that covers the Trojans. He visited there last weekend.
LB Makiya Tongue of Baton Rouge has cut his list to Arizona State, Georgia and Tennessee. Clemson was on his previous short list.
WR Keveon Mullins of Memphis Monday night confirmed a report from earlier in the day by GamecockCentral that he will not announce a commitment Wednesday at the Rivals combine in Atlanta as he had planned to do. Mullins is down to USC and Memphis. “I don’t have a date, it could be anytime.” Mullins said he would like to bring his parents to USC for a visit before finalizing his plans. He has been favoring the Gamecocks.
Clemson did not make the cut with DE David Ojabo of Blairstown, NJ from 15 to his final five. Making the cut were Michigan, Texas A&M, Penn State, Notre Dame and Ohio State.
USC target DB DJ Daniel was offered by Alabama.
DB DJ Turner of Suwanee, GA, who had USC and Clemson offers, committed to Michigan.
Myrtle Beach OL Evan Jumper committed to Furman.
USC target 6-7 AJ Lawson of Brompton, ONT plans to announce his college decision Tuesday night at 7:00 PM according to NorthPoleHoops. Lawson took official visits to USC, Creighton and Tulane and will choose from those three programs.
