LB Greg Williams of Swansea (6-4 235) saw his recruiting get a major boost last week with an offer from Clemson. Williams performed well at a camp session last week and defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Brent Venables liked what he saw enough to hand Williams his first Power Five offer.
“It’s a blessing that the most winning defensive coach wants me as part of their program,” Williams said. “I went to camp on Wednesday and competed and coach loved my athleticism and my drive. He invited me to watch film and we exchanged information. He told me the good news Friday.”
And that offer pushed the Tigers into a good position with Williams.
“High (one is list) but I don’t have any specific order right now,” he said. “It’s a great school academic and sports wise and I would fit in with the culture coming from a good community with a lot of support like Clemson.”
Williams camped at Virginia Tech Sunday and he might return to Clemson this week for another look. He also holds offers from UCF, Western Kentucky, Coastal Carolina, Missouri, East Carolina and others.
