The Houston Astros made Clemson OF Seth Beer their First Round selection in the 2018 MLB Draft with the 28th overall draft pick.
Beer becomes the first Clemson First Round selection since Richie Shaffer was chosen in the first round in 2012.
In three years as a Tiger, Beer hit .321 with 56 homers, 177 RBIs, 172 runs, and a .648 slugging percentage. He became the first Tiger in history to hit 16 or more home runs in three consecutive seasons.
MLB lists his official slot value at approximately $2.4 million for his signing bonus.
The Georgia native joined SportsTalk to talk about the selection and about the decision he’ll have to make about the big leagues.
