The Clemson Tigers, with a sweep of Pittsburgh earned a share of the ACC title, placing as the #2 seed having lost the tiebreaker with top-seeded North Carolina.
Clemson will play in a pool with 7th-seeded Miami and 11th-seeded Notre Dame, two teams the Tigers faced in the regular season. The Tigers won 2-of-3 from the Fighting Irish, but dropped 2-of-3 at home to the Hurricanes.
The Tigers won in a variety of ways over the Panthers, taking the opener in a 16-6 laugher, winning 4-1 in game two, and shutting out Pittsburgh 5-0 in the finale.
Seth Beer continued his red-hot hitting with seven hits in the series (four in the opening game) including home runs in each of the last two contests. Logan Davidson had four hits in the series including becoming the first Tigers player to go deep from both sides of the plate during the series opener.
The Clemson bullpen continued to stay stout as the Tigers relievers threw their last 11 and 2/3 innings scoreless, with Ryan Miller, Ryley Gilliam and Carson Spiers each turning in blemish-free work on the weekend.
Head Coach Monte Lee said he’s happy to advance to the Tigers’ next task:
