USC Sunday night landed a commitment from TE Traevon Kenion (6-4 210) of Monroe, NC. Kenion visited USC Saturday and he picked the Gamecocks over North Carolina, NC State, Louisville and Virginia Tech. He’s the Gamecocks’ 10th commitment for the 2019 class.
Kenion had a very good feeling for USC before making his commitment. He took in two games last season at Williams-Brice and he visited for a spring practice in March. He also developed a strong relationship with tight ends coach Pat Washington who recently scouted him in a spring practice.
“He’s a really great coach, I love Coach Washington a lot,” Kenion said last week. “When we talk, it’s really not a bunch of football, we just talk about getting to know each other better, building a better relationship with each other. He said he would move me on the line and off the line as they did the other tight ends. He loves me being able to move and not stay in one position.”
Kenion is the second tight end commitment for the class and he’s the second commitment from the metro Charlotte area.
