USC basketball coach Frank Martin picked up some much needed help for his point guard position Sunday with a commitment from 6-4 TJ Moss of Memphis. Moss committed to the Gamecocks at the conclusion of his official visit and said his recruiting is over. He also had offers from Alabama, Memphis, Minnesota, Texas A&M and Oregon State.
“I picked South Carolina because it’s a great program,” Moss said. “Coach Martin is a great coach. The culture here is similar to home and I feel it’s a great fit for me.”
Moss played this season at Findlay Prep in Henderson, NV and helped his team reach the national championship tournament in New York City. The Gamecocks first saw him when his team played in the Chick-Fil-A Classic in Columbia in December. He went on to average 10 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds per game this season. He said Martin sees him as a point guard to work with Rak Felder.
“Tells me how I played this past year in school fits in just right,” Moss said. “Whatever he needs me to do, that’s what he tells me.”
Moss is the third commitment for Martin’s 2018 class and he currently has one scholarship available. 6-3 2G Devante Bandoo of Hutchinson JC, KS also visited USC over the weekend.
