Clemson took the heart out of the state of Tennessee last year by capturing the state’s top two receivers in Amari Rodgers and Tee Higgins. The Tigers are looking back into the Volunteer state for this year’s top receiver, Lance Wilhoite (6-3 170) of Nashville. He plans to visit Saturday for the spring game.
“I love Clemson,” Wilhoite said. “They are showing major love. They are talking about how I’m a elite receiver and how I’m a priority.”
Wilhoite said from watching what Clemson has done with its receivers, he thinks he can fit in with their scheme.
“They all are tall like me, and they are all deadly from outside to the slot, and they get them the ball and they score a lot,” he said.
Last season Wilhoite had 1087 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. He also had 67 tackles on defense.
He said other schools strong with him at this point are Oregon, Florida State, Ohio State, Louisville, Arkansas and Tennessee.
