South Carolina football coach Will Muschamp spoke Tuesday, ahead of the Gamecocks’ first Spring football practice on Wednesday.
Muschamp detailed that defenders Bryson Allen-Williams and Jaylin Dickerson will not go through any contact drills in camp, and Jamyest Williams will not practice until the Fall due to injury. Others who will not practice include junior defensive back Antoine Wilder, freshman linebacker Earnest Jones and freshman running back Lavonte Valentine. Running back Mon Denson won’t practice the first two weeks of Spring camp, but will return after Spring Break.
The offensive line will have a reshuffuling of sorts, with Zack Bailey moving inside to play left guard between left tackle Dennis Daley and Donnell Stanley, who will move to center. Muschamp said Blake Camper will supplant Bailey at right tackle, with rising sophomore Sadarius Hutcherson playing right guard. Malik Young will rep mostly on the offensive line but will also get a shot to play on the defensive line this Spring.
Also of note on the roster additions: QB Dakereon Joyner will wear #7 and will be competing with Jay Urich and Michael Scarnecchia for the backup quarterback position. Stephen Davis, Jr. who came into camp last season at the running back spot but quit midway through the Fall is back on the roster as a walk-on linebacker.
C.J. Freeman and Jerad Washington will transfer after the semester.

The Gamecocks will practice Wednesday and Friday with just helmets, and then practice with pads on Saturday, Tuesday and next Thursday before Spring Break the following week.
