South Carolina’s basketball backcourt decreased by one on Saturday, as Kory Holden decided to leave the Gamecocks’ basketball program, per a statement from USC Athletics.
Holden’s junior campaign was mired with injuries, having recovered from an offseason knee injury and limited to just 14 of the Gamecocks’ 25 games because of a hamstring strain suffered in USC’s loss to Clemson.
It is unknown whether Holden will decide to transfer, as he would have only one year of eligibility remaining having already transferred to the Gamecocks from Delaware.
Gamecocks Head Coach Frank Martin addressed the Holden situation after the game:
“He’s been battling that injury thing for 18 months. He’s in a frustrated place as an athlete because he can’t get his body to respond. He’s catching his breath right now is what he’s doing. Whenever we find out his next step, we’ll let you guys know.”
