USC led Texas Tech 58-53 with 6:17 to play but from there the Red Raiders took over the game closing with a 17-5 run to defeat the Gamecocks 70-63 in the SEC/Big 12 shootout Saturday afternoon at Colonial Life Arena. USC made just 1 of its last 7 shots from the floor, the six misses all three pointers.
Keenan Evans was the star for the Red Raiders. During their game winning run. he scored 13 points. His three pointer with 2:12 left put Tech up for good at 62-61.
USC followed with a barrage of long misses and the Red Raiders sealed the win with an Evans three point play and five free throws down the stretch. The Red Raiders were 23-28 from the line in a game in which there were a total of 51 fouls called.
Evans finished with 31 points, one off his career high. Chris Silva led the Gamecocks with 16 points before fouling out.
USC falls to 13-8 and returns to SEC play at home Wednesday night against Mississippi State. 14th ranked Texas Tech improves to 17-4.
