6-4 Jermaine Couisnard of Montverde Prep, FL made an official visit to USC Tuesday-Thursday and attended the Gamecocks’ game with Missouri Wednesday night. He returned to Florida Thursday morning and had a USC offer tucked in his back pocket. The Gamecocks join Bradley as offers for Couisnard.
“It was a cool, it’s a nice environment,” Couisnard said. “They really take care of the kids on the academic side.”
Couisnard did not see a good performance from the Gamecocks in the loss to the Tigers. The three guards were 8-27 from the floor so he sees an area of need for his sharp-shooting skills.
“He (Martin) was telling me they like to play two point guards so they can move the ball faster, get the ball up the court and run,” he said. “They had a pretty good front court. That’s all I really need is good bigs.”
With the Gamecock offer, Couisnard said he plans to talk things over with his mom.
“The decision won’t be long,” Couisnard said. “I don’t have a date yet but it’s not going to be long. I really don’t have (a favorite) in my mind but I just know like where I’m going to fit in the program.”
Couisnard does not expect to have a decision this week. Hassani Gravett served as Couisnard’s host. He does not have any other official visits planned.
Couisnard is a native of East Chicago, IN and said he’s averaging around 20 points per game this season.
