DB Jaycee Horn of Alpharetta, GA Monday night announced on Twitter a commitment to USC. The one-time Tennessee commit spent a lot of time at USC over the last several months attending three games on unofficial visits, making an official visit December 8th and returning for another unofficial visit for the first bowl practice last Saturday. He also had Clemson, Ohio State and Alabama on his short list.
“It’s been a long road and it took a lot for me to get to this point,” Horn wrote on Twitter. “This has been a long process and I gained great relationships with a lot of coaches. I feel most comfortable at this university and I feel like this is the best place for me.”
Horn added that he will be signing with the Gamecocks on Wednesday.
Horn always felt personal relationships with the coaches and players would be a big part of his decision making process. He made his official visit with his father, former NFL receiver Joe Horn, and felt after that the comfort level he was seeking.
“They are a real cool group of guys,” Horn said after his visit. “It felt good being around them and I can see myself being around them a lot. They (coaches) were talking about how they need me on the outside so they can play more of the scheme they want to play.”
Horn gives USC 21 new commitments for the class and 23 players total that will count toward the 25 the Gamecocks can bring in on scholarship in August. And he gives the Gamecocks six recruits for their secondary.
