It’s the final recruiting weekend before the dead period and the early signing day and there are several weekend official visits scheduled that impact USC and Clemson’s efforts.
The Gamecocks are set to host two targets, OL Jovaughn Gwyn and LB Rosendo Louis. Gwyn was picked for the Shrine Bowl and wasn’t expecting to make it to Columbia until after the game. But an injury forced him out of the game but also made him available for a Friday arrival and a full 48 hours at USC. He’s also considering NC State and Duke.
Louis has been a Florida State commitment and met with new coach Willie Taggert. And with USC no longer recruiting Dax Hollifield and with Channing Tindall possibly headed to Georgia, Louis is the Gamecocks’ top linebacker target at this point.
Speaking of Tindall, he told DawgPost of SEC Country he will take an official visit to Georgia this weekend but won’t sign early. He’s also visited Auburn. With his plan now to announce before leaving for the Army All American Game set for January 6th in San Antonio, he won’t have the chance to take another visit to USC unless he goes over there Sunday upon returning from Athens.
One other USC target on the move this weekend will be DB Asante Samuel. He’s scheduled to visit Florida State this weekend. He has been a Seminole commitment but has taken an official to USC and plans to visit Miami in January.
Clemson has no official visits set for the weekend at this point but five major targets are set to see other schools. Foremost among them is OL Cade Mays. He will be at Georgia for the weekend. He as also been to Clemson and Ohio State. This is widely viewed as a Clemson-Georgia decision.
OL Jackson Carman, who visited Clemson last weekend, is headed to Southern Cal this weekend. He’s also been to Ohio State with the Buckeyes perceived as the favorite.
Clemson’s top running back target Lyn-J Dixon announced Thursday he is down to the Tigers and Oklahoma State. He has been to Clemson and will visit Stillwater this weekend.
RB Jashaun Corbin, who has Clemson on his short list, will visit TCU this weekend. He’s also been to Oregon and is scheduled to visit Southern Cal in January.
And DB Brendan Radley-Hiles is scheduled to visit Florida over the weekend. He’s also been to Clemson, Nebraska, Oklahoma and UCLA.
USC target DL Rick Sandidge revealed the dates for four official visits telling Rivals he will see Georgia January 12th, North Carolina January 19th, Michigan January 26th and USC February 2nd.
