The South Carolina Gamecocks will go back to Tampa for a rematch of the 2013 Outback Bowl facing the Michigan Wolvervines.
The Gamecocks prevailed in the matchup five years ago, 33-28, in a game highlighted by Jadeveon Clowney’s massive hit which forced a fumble that he later recovered.
South Carolina comes into the game at 8-4, having finished second in the SEC East behind Georgia, who will play in the Rose Bowl. Michigan (8-4), like the Gamecocks, lost in the final week of the regular season in its rivalry game, 31-20, to Ohio State.
USC’s history in the Outback Bowl is a good one, with a 3-1 overall record in the postseason contest in Tampa.
The matchup between the Gamecocks and Wolverines takes place on New Year’s Day, with a noon kickoff on ESPN2.
