OL Cade Mays of Knoxville is one of those Tennessee commitments still looking at other options. One of those is Clemson and he made an unofficial visit for the Georgia Tech game. He plans to return for an official visit for The Citadel weekend.
The persistent rain last Saturday night didn’t deter Mays from enjoying the environment of a night game at Death Valley. Decked out in his rain gear, Mays stood on the field prior to the game and got a good feel for what a Clemson home game feels like.
“Clemson is a different culture than anything I’ve seen,” Mays said. “It’s very special. I couldn’t believe the stadium was sold out in the pouring rain. It’s just so real. Everyone is bought in, and Coach Swinney told me before the game, the‘fun is in the winning.'”
Clemson has plenty of help recruiting Mays with current commitment Mike Jones Jr. and current freshman receiver Amari Rodgers, both very close friends. And he said this most recent visit definitely improved Clemson’s positioning with him.
“Absolutely,” he said. “I want to win a National Championship and get the best opportunity to play at the highest level. Obviously, Clemson has the tools to help me achieve my goal.”
Mays plans to take unofficial visits to Georgia and Ohio State the next two weekends. He then plans official visits to Clemson and Tennessee the last two weekends of the month. He also has Notre Dame scheduled for December 8th and Georgia December 15th. He will be a mid-year enrollee.
