The early signing period for basketball is just a month away (November 8th) and the intensity of the Zion Williamson watch no doubt will increase with every passing day. The 6-6 star from Spartanburg Day has taken an official visit to Kansas and will visit Kentucky this coming weekend. He also has Duke and UCLA scheduled for later this month. He’s been to USC and Clemson unofficially and he said in a Rivals.com interview from the USA Basketball mini-camp in Colorado this weekend the Gamecocks and Tigers are very much in the picture.
“You should not count out Clemson or South Carolina,” Williamson said. “They are showing me a lot of love. I like the messages they’re giving me. I might taken an official to one of those.”
Williamson said he’s looking at late November or early December on his decision “but if it doesn’t feel right, then probably longer.” The early signing period ends on November 15th.
Here’s what Williamson also had to say in the interview about the other schools on his list:
Kansas…”(The visit) was everything I thought it was going to be and more. The fans there showed a lot of love. They have two bigs committed so far so if I was to commit there I would play like 1-3, kind of like a Josh Jackson type, just playing everywhere.”
Kentucky…”My brother Immanuel Quickley already committed there. You know, he’s trying to get me to come to Kentucky with him. I’m really psyched about it.”
Duke…”Coach K speaks for itself. Legendary coach. He can talk about anything for like an hour or so and all I can do is sit there and listen. Me and Tre (Jones) and Cam (Reddish) have been talking ever since they committed and they’re giving me their pitch to Duke, so we’re trying to build that chemistry.”
UCLA…”They were always there. People just didn’t think I would even think about them due to how far they were. LA, I mean, want to meet the players and see their play style and build a better relationship with the coach.”
