Spartanburg Day basketball player and USC/Clemson target Zion WIlliamson’s family denies any contact with Adidas, amid a report that the apparel company was trying to “lure him to Kansas.”
Williamson’s stepfather Lee Anderson said the following to 7 Sports in Spartanburg:
“No one from Adidas approached Zion or his family. if anyone approached the family without Zion’s best interests in mind we would simply walk away.”
Anderson added no one outside the family will influence the decision and that he has not made up his mind on a college yet.
This statement comes in response to an article from ChatSports.com which reporter Brian Rauf stated that two sources told him arrested Adidas official Jim Gatto was planning a scheme to lure Williamson to Kansas, an Adidas affiliated school.
Rauf’s report said the scheme ran similar to the money-funneling that allegedly took place with Louisville and top recruit Brian Bowen, but Rauf told SportsTalk Thursday night he could not confirm Williamson or his family had spoken to any Adidas or Kansas officials.
