USC lost a member of its 2018 recruiting class Friday with DL Dantrell Barkley of Independence JC, KS announced a decommitment so that he can reopen his recruiting. Barkley, a native of Kannapolis, NC, committed to the Gamecocks June 20th with NC State the strongest competition at that time. Barkley said he will not reconsider the Gamecocks moving forward. He notified defensive line coach Lance Thompson of his decision earlier in the week. Barkley said an official visit for this weekend was a possibility before he decided to decommit. He said he’s in regular contact with NC State but has not been offered by the Wolfpack. He also has Kentucky as one of his top schools at this point. His decommitment leaves the Gamecocks with 18 commitments in the class and two on the defensive line.
Spring Valley LB Channing Tindall told Rivals he now will take all five of his official visits in November and won’t make a decision until December. His five are USC, Auburn, Georgia, Florida and Florida State.
Ben Lippen LB Kyle Wright committed to Temple.
2019 6-4 Jalen Lecque of Arden, NC plans to take an unofficial visit to USC Saturday. He visited Clemson last week and has an offer from the Tigers.
