DB Brendan Radley-Hines, a native of Inglewood, CA who attends IMG Academy in Florida, joined teammates Xavier Thomas and Mike Jones Jr. and Nolan Smith on an unofficial visit to Clemson for Saturday night’s game with Auburn. Thomas and Jones are Clemson commitments and Smith is committed to Georgia for the 2019 class. Hines currently is committed to Nebraska but he liked Clemson enough that he’ll return for an official visit the weekend of The Citadel game when Thomas, Jones and committed quarterback Trevor Lawrence plan to make an official visit.
“Overall it was a great visit,” Radley-Hines said. “I got to meet genuine and cool people. I got to see the lifestyle and the atmosphere for a Clemson student-athlete. All together it was a fun experience.”
Radley-Hines also spent time with Dabo Swinney, Brent Venables and Mike Reed over his three days on campus and got a read from them on what they have in mind for him at Clemson.
“I talked to them about basically what I would being playing if I was there. With Coach Reed, I got to go over some stuff with the preparation they put into the game. And with Coach Swinney, he told me I wasn’t just an ordinary recruit at the game, I’m here to see if I feel myself here, see myself here and if it’s the right fit. I would basically be taking on the role of Ryan Carter. He’s a guy who is a utility guy and is used in the entire defensive backfield. He’s a guy that’s undersized like I am but we play with a certain type of intensity that makes us play bigger, faster and stronger. With our aggression, we make an immediate impact on the field.”
Asked where things stand regarding his Nebraska commitment after this visit, Radley-Hines offered up a “no comment.”
He will be setting up other official visits besides Clemson and is looking at Nebraska, Florida, Alabama, Texas, Oregon, Oregon, Notre Dame and Michigan for which to choose those visits. Radley-Hines plans to make his final decision known at the US Army All American Game. He will be an early graduate.
