OL Dylan Wonnum of Tucker, GA is making little progress toward a commitment decision his coach said Friday. Coach Bryan Lamar said he likes for his players to get recruiting behind them before the season, but that won’t be the case with Wonnum. Lamar said he does not expect Wonnum to render a decision until after the season at the earliest.
“I talked to him a couple of weeks ago about narrowing things down,” Lamar said. “He’s still weighing all is options and he said all the schools are the same.”
Lamar emphasized that Wonnum is not down to a small group as he considers talking to all-comers but he did say USC, Florida, Georgia and LSU may have a position of prominence with him, in no particular order.
“For him, he’s not narrowed a whole bunch of stuff down, but I’m on him about doing it,” Lamar said.
USC has a special in with Wonnum due to the presence of his brother, DJ, as a starting defensive end. The younger Wonnum has made several visits to Columbia for brother and recruiting visits and Lamar said he will return for games this season.
USC target WR Josh Vann also plays for Lamar. Vann is trying to choose between USC and Georgia and Vann said he is also encouraging him to make a decision before the season. He said Vann goes back and forth between his two favorites.
