LB Channing Tindall of Spring Valley met with some reporters after Friday morning’s first practice and updated his recruiting. Tindall said USC is still his favorite with Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Auburn and Notre Dame still in the mix. He has visited all the schools except for Auburn and he plans to get down there as soon as he can. Tindall wants to make his decision by the end of September.
WR Russell Brown (6-3 205) of Lehigh Acres, FL named a top five of USC, South Florida, Georgia State, Florida Atlantic and Appalachian State. Brown was offered by the Gamecocks earlier in the year and attended a Muschamp camp in June. “It’s just a great place, I love it there.” He remains in touch with receivers coach Bryan McClendon. “He’s telling me I’m a great player, how I am physical and how I get the job done. Brown hopes to make his decision before his season and doesn’t have a favorite. “I’m looking at the depth charts and what happens redshirt-wise, and where I can have an effect right away.” Last season Brown had 32 catches for 559 yards and 7 touchdowns.
OL Jackson Carman named a final five of Clemson, Ohio State, Southern Cal, Florida State and Wisconsin during an interview Thursday on WCPO radio in Cincinnati. Carman said he won’t make his decision until December and is looking for where he will be the most comfortable and feel most at home. He also cited Clemson offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell as a major reason Clemson is strong with him. Carman attended Ohio State’ Friday Night Lights camp last week.
DB Chandler Jones of Miami committed to Louisville. USC was on his short list.
Clemson offered 2019 DB Andrew Booth Jr. of Lawrenceville, GA and 2019 DB DJ Turner II of Suwanee, GA.
