But the surest way you can tell football season is around the corner is in how coaches talk about their players. This is the rare part of the year where coaches will incite fire under players who the need to step up by calling out players in media reports. Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables laid into DE Austin Bryant for not accomplishing his full potential. Venables believes that Bryant can be a “War Daddy” but notes that he hasn’t seen it yet on the practice field.

Scott put the fire under Ray Ray McCloud and other players by saying that the new recruits are ready to step in early. Any lack of production from the veteran players can easily be replaced by hungry younger recruits.
