There is no lesser evil for Dabo Swinney to pick in his quest for a QB. He likes all his options. At the media golf outing on Tuesday Dabo Swinney said he isn’t choosing from the best of the bad. Wether it is Kelly Bryant or Hunter Johnson, he believes that his options are all capable of winning in the next level. In the eyes of Tony Elliot, all a QB needs to show is consistency to win the starting job. Elliot said that he doesn’t care who has the best talent or the best propensity to make plays. He’d rather a QB make a correct check down that lob a 60 yard 50-50 ball.
The Tigers face a similar hole in replacing the running back but Dabo Swinney says there are options on his field. The Tigers run an offense at a quick pace which doesn’t always allow for substitutions. The fast pace of play requires that their players be well rounded and talented enough to play multiple positions. The back that replaces Wayne Gallman at Clemson will demonstrate to Elliot and Swinney that he can run, block and line up on the line of scrimmage for a pass if he wants to be the bell cow.
