ESPN draft guru held a conference call with the media to discuss the 2017 NFL draft and, of course, he was asked his thoughts on Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson and where he anticipated him going in the draft next month. McShay hasn’t ever really been on the Watson bandwagon and his opinion of the Tigers star hasn’t changed much. He said he thinks Watson should have a “late first, early second round” grade, but added he would not be surprised if he went in the first 10 picks of the draft.
McShay complimented Watson’s leadership, work ethic and winning percentage, but said there are areas that need to improve. Accuracy on deep throws, arm strength, field vision and decision making were the areas of concern, according to McShay.
You can listen to McShay’s explanation below. The question was comparing Watson to North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky.
