The early signing period for college basketball commences Wednesday and 6-4 Clyde Trapp Jr. of Lower Richland will have the in-state spotlight. Trapp will announce his decision at a school signing ceremony at 2:00 PM. Trapp took official visits to USC, Clemson, Charlotte and Rice. He’s also considering Georgia Tech.
Trapp took his official visit to USC in late October and came out of that visit feeling good about how he would fit in with Frank Martin’s program. He visited Clemson last weekend and also left with a good feeling, and the belief that he could play in Brad Brownell’s system.
Also Wednesday, USC is set to sign 7-1 Jason Cudd of Socastee and 6-7 Ibrahim Doumbia of Miami and Clemson is set to add 6-6 Malik William of Orlando, 6-7 Aamir Simms of Dyke, VA and 6-3 AJ Oliver of Daniel. Oliver is enrolling at Clemson in January and will sit out the second half of the season as a redshirt.
Thursday USC will learn if it has won the battle for 6-10 Felipe Haase of Chile and Miami. He visited USC last weekend and came out of that visit feeling very good about Martin and the Gamecocks. He’s also considering Purdue, Missouri and Pittsburgh.
USC has two more targets who will announce Monday.
6-10 Nic Claxton of Greenville is still undecided between USC, Florida State, Georgia, Baylor and NC State. Those were his five official visits and all five are still in it. All contact with recruiters has been cut off as Claxton works on his decision. He and his family plan to sit down Saturday and make the decision. He is to announce at 4:00 PM at Legacy Charter School.
Also on Monday 6-3 David Beatty of Philadelphia will announce his decision from USC, Indiana and Georgetown, the three schools he visited officially. He’s also been considering Connecticut and Maryland.
