DB Jamyest Williams of Loganville, GA will be coming out with a top five list early next month at The Open and he said Monday night there’s a good chance USC and Clemson will be on it though he added he hasn’t made up the final list just yet. Williams visited USC in April and he was at Clemson earlier this month as a camp observer. He’s had both high up on his list throughout the recruiting campaign and both continue to work him diligently.
“They need me, they need guys and they’ve got to change their program,” Williams said of the Gamecocks. “And they’ll try to help me with my future also. I think I’ll fit their scheme well. Coach Robinson is the defensive back coach and defensive coordinator and I know he’s going to put in a great scheme and allow defensive backs to make plays.”
As for Clemson, Williams said defensive coordinator Brent Venables is on him hard and the two talk almost every day.
“He’s telling me he’s going to help me build my future throughout the whole way and nothing is going to change, there’s nothing fake about Clemson” Williams said.
Williams also has been to Georgia and Alabama this summer and he might take some other visits when he returns from Oregon. Those could include the social gathers at USC and Clemson in July.
He does not expect to make a decision before his season and he said there are a few key items he’s considering as he tries to make his decision.
“Just the relationship I have with the coaches,” said Williams. “How well they gel with my family and the academic program is the most important thing.”
He said no one school is recruiting him any harder than the rest and everyone is recruiting him for corner. Some of his other offers are Florida State, Ohio State, Auburn, Oklahoma, Stanford, Michigan State, Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Oregon, California, TCU, Georgia Tech and Michigan.
