The next chapter in the USC-Clemson baseball rivalry may be written sooner rather than later. Both teams are hosting NCAA Regionals this weekend and Clemson is a #7 national seed. If both teams hold serve at home they will meet in a Super Regional at Doug Kingsmore Stadium next weekend.
First thing’s first, though, both teams have to take care of business this weekend. Clemson is the #1 seed in their Regional and will open with Western Carolina. The Tigers and Catamounts played two competitive games in the regular season, both won by Clemson though. Oklahoma State is the two seed in the four team field. The Cowboys will play 3 seed Nebraska Friday afternoon.
In Columbia, USC will face Rhode Island in it’s opening matchup Friday night. UNC Wilmington from the CAA is the #2 seed. They will face 3 seed Duke Friday afternoon.
Coastal Carolina avoided being sent to a Palmetto State site and will instead head to Raleigh as a #2 seed in NC State’s regional. The Wolfpack will play Navy in their opening matchup; the Chanticleers will face Saint Mary’s. The winner of that Regional is paired up with #8 national seed LSU’s Regional.
