WR Austin Connor is slowing the recruiting pace just a tick after a hectic early spring filled with offers and visits. His most recent visit was to Virginia Tech a couple of weeks back. On that trip he watched a Hokies spring practice and toured the engineering department. The past two weekends Connor was in Charlotte for a Rivals camp and The Opening tryouts.
Connor’s offer list now reads USC, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Duke, Georgia, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Harvard, East Carolina, Dartmouth, Yale, Georgia Southern, Army and Appalachian State. This spring he has visited USC twice, Wake Forest, Duke, Georgia and Virginia Tech twice. He’s in regular contact with USC.
“I talk to coach BMac (Bryan McClendon) pretty often,” Connor said. “He’s pretty much telling me the usual, what they’ve been telling me from the beginning. They’ve always been in the top five.”
And that top five consists of USC, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Georgia and Vanderbilt. There is no leader at this point. Connor said he doesn’t know when he’ll decide but it could be sooner than he has been expecting, perhaps sometime this summer.”
“A lot of my offers have good academics and that’s a big part of my decision and now I’m worried about early playing time and things like that,” Connor said. “Quarterbacks and things like that.”
Connor said he is trying to set up another trip to USC in the near future.
