DB Lummie Young of Westside made it to Clemson’s spring game late because he had to take the ACT Saturday morning. He missed all of the pre-game recruiting activity with the coaches and actually had to sit in the stands with the regular fans. And he left early because of the cold weather.
Young has not been offered by Clemson and as a Tiger fan he would love to get one, but he also realizes he may have to move on to other options. Those would be USC, Duke, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, NC State, Cal, Coastal Carolina, Old Dominion, Miami of Ohio and Charlotte. Those are his current offers.
Young said he’s researching all of those schools while waiting to see who else offers. “I’m just trying to make the best decision for me academically and on the football field,” Young said.
USC wanted Young to come in for it’s spring game but because of the ACT he couldn’t make it. He’s not sure when he’ll get back to USC because he has his prom and football combines coming up the next few weeks.
Young said his top three are Duke, USC and NC State in no order, but he said he likes Duke a little more than USC because of the academics. He said Duke is making a hard pitch for him and talks to the safety coach almost every day.
He’s looking at June or July for making a decision.
