Long time Clemson commitment Deon Cain of Tampa took an official visit to Auburn over the weekend with fellow Clemson commit Ray Ray McCloud and another prospect who is a friend of theirs. Cain and his mother actually left Auburn this morning and returned to Tampa this afternoon. Tampa Tech coach Jayson Roberts had not talked with Cain this afternoon but he had been in touch with his mother.
“She said it was a good visit, not anything much different from other visits,” Roberts said. “At the end of the day, they are still 100% Clemson. They took the trip because it was the last opportunity to visit outside of Clemson. He took a couple of his buddies and they wanted to take a visit together one last time.”
Roberts said Cain is set to sign with Clemson on Wednesday at 1:30 PM at the school.
Roberts added that Clemson is already showing interest in his 2017 receiver Daquon Green (6-2 180).
As for McCloud, sources said today his status with Clemson is more up in the air after this weekend’s visit. “He may not be as solid as Deon,” one source said.
McCloud has already signed a financial aid agreement with Clemson. At one point, he planned to enroll in January then decided against that.
