DE Arden Key of Atlanta, DB Rashad Fenton of Miami and OL Christian Pellage of Brooksville, FL are what’s left for drama for USC’s recruiting season. The Gamecocks have put themselves in position to land all three, or in the case of Pellage, retain him as a commitment.
Key confirmed Thursday night he has a final three, in order, of USC, Auburn and LSU. He has not seen any coaches this week but he has talked with the recruiters from each of his finalists. Key said he talked with Steve Spurrier, Lorenzo Ward and Deke Adams from USC. “They’ve been with me since day one,” Key said of the Gamecocks. “They said I have an opportunity to come in and play as a freshman, it’s all up to me.” Key will make an official visit to Auburn this week and then announce his decision Monday night. “It will be where I feel at home,” Key said. “Yes I did,” he said when asked if he felt that way at USC last weekend on his official visit. “I’ve been to South Carolina plenty of times so nothing really stood out. I’ve been there multiple times so I know my ends and outs.”
Fenton was scheduled to visit Auburn this weekend but he switched that trip to Louisville. He has been to USC and Florida. Fenton talked with USC recruiter Grady Brown last night. He said there’s no order to his final three of USC, Florida and Louisville. As for what he will base his decision on, Fenton said, “Whatever school I see myself being at for the next four years.” He plans to announce on Signing Day when he will be in Texas for the International Bowl.
Pellage, of course, has been a USC commitment since August and has stuck to that pledge to this point despite a late push by Florida. He met with USC offensive line coach Shawn Elliott Thursday night. “The visit was great,” Pellage said. He met with Florida’s line coach Wednesday. Pellage said he’ll make a final announcement on his plans Friday afternoon.
