USC guard Sindarius Thornwell has been selected as the SEC’s Freshman of the Week. He averaged just over 14 points and six rebounds per game in matchups against top ranked Florida and at Mississippi State. Thornwell had a double-double in the win over the Bulldogs, his second of the season. He had 22 points and 11 rebounds in that game. Thornwell has scored 20 or more points six times this season, breaking a record held by BJ McKie.
USC will play Auburn in the opening round of the SEC Tournament Wednesday night. That game tips off at 7:00 in the Georgia Dome.
