Dabo Swinney announced Tuesday that four players will not play in the season opener against Georgia. Offensive linemen David Beasley and Shaq Anthony will not play, and neither will defensive end Corey Crawford and defensive back Garry Peters.
Swinney cited the well known “violation of team rules” as the reason for the suspensions. Crawford started all 13 games for Clemson last year. Beasley also was a regular, starting in seven games and playing in all 13. Anthony also made a few starts and played regularly on the offensive line. Peters was a reserve defensive back all of last season, but did see action in 10 games.
Clemson opens its season at Georgia on August 30th. The Tigers begin spring practice tomorrow.
