The #3 South Carolina Gamecocks (7-0) host the #11 Clemson Tigers (6-1) on Friday night at 7:00 PM as the programs continue their battle for the Palmetto State on the baseball diamond.
When USC ace Jordan Montgomery takes the mound Friday night at Carolina Stadium, the Gamecocks will be putting on the line a school record five consecutive shutouts, as well as a 51-inning streak without allowing a run (only 13 innings short of the NCAA record).
Montgomery will face off against Clemson ace Daniel Gossett in a rematch of last year’s Friday night game in which Montgomery pitched 8 scoreless innings in a 6-0 Gamecock victory.
Thursday USC coach Chad Holbrook and several players met with the media to preview the series.
Probable starters for Saturday at 2:00 PM at Fluor Field in Greenville are sophomore lefty Jack Wynkoop for the Gamecocks and Matthew Crownover for the Tigers.
The series concludes on Sunday at 4:00 PM at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson with freshman righty Will Crowe of South Carolina facing off against junior righty Jake Long of Clemson.
